Perhaps you heard something in the air earlier this summer. A murmur in the wind. A grumble in the distance. That was the sound of employment lawyers getting smarter and it came from San Antonio.
The Alamo City hosted two Employment Law Conferences this Summer. Butler & Harris was proud to attend and contribute to both.
The Texas Employment Lawyers Association (TELA) was founded by Margie Harris and others back in 1992. TELA holds two educational seminars per year: one in the summer and another, international seminar, in the fall.
This year’s summer seminar was held at the Emily Morgan Hotel in San Antonio. Both Margie and Kathy Butler were among the speakers.
Margie gave an update on recent, Texas employment law cases. Kathy was on a panel of attorneys sharing business practice tips to help employee attorneys keep the doors open.
The learning did not stop there.
The National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) was founded in 1985 and now has over 4,000 members. NELA held its Annual Convention just down the street from the Emily Morgan at the Marriott Riverwalk Hotel.
Kathy was recently elected to the Executive Board of NELA and this was her first Convention as a Board Member. She addressed the audience about the challenges and opportunities for modern day employment law practitioners.
It was a great week of learning and socializing with the best and brightest employment lawyers in Texas and around the country.
