Kathy Butler on Why She Advocates: “Let’s break down more walls”

Kathy is featured in the September 2015 issue of Diabetes Forecast, a publication of the American Diabetes Association. The article is titled, “Advocates Fight for Fair Treatment and Diabetes Research Funding.”

In highlighting her accomplishments representing individuals with diabetes who seek equal treatment in the workforce, the feature also reveals Kathy’s passion for helping individuals get beyond the stereotypes and attitudes that serve as barriers to deny individuals with disabilities the same opportunity to contribute to the workforce as those available to others.

She explained why she focuses on this area of the law: “I know this country will be a better place if we treat people fairly and not based on prejudice.” “We need the wisdom and contributions of all Americans to make this country great.”

Kathy is the chair of the Legal Advocacy Subcommittee of the American Diabetes Association, and has been a member of that subcommittee since 2008.  She also serves as Houston Advocacy Chair.
